Electrical Engineering Scholarships in Canada

Open to University of Alberta undergraduates entering third or fourth year in an undergraduate program in the Department of Electrical Engineering, selected on superior academic achievement. The award amount varies. Endowed by Schlumberger Foundation Inc.; faculty nomination, no application.

Third- or fourth-year UBC Vancouver Bachelor of Applied Science students majoring in Electrical Engineering who demonstrate an interest in power or consulting engineering may be considered, with preference for women. Annual awards are available through a gift from BBA Consultants. Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. There is no separate student application. BBA Consultants is a Canadian consulting engineering and environmental services firm with expertise in energy and natural resources.

For outstanding Bachelor of Applied Science students specializing in Electrical Engineering at UBC Vancouver. Scholarships from an endowment; individual amounts vary. Scholarships are made on the recommendation of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; no separate application is required. The endowment was established in honour of Robert Lashin (B.A.Sc. 1972) by Houle Electric Limited.

UBC Vancouver graduate students studying electrical engineering may be considered. Variable scholarships are funded through an endowment established by Gayatri Chattopadhyay in memory of Nani Gopal Chakrabarti, Aparna Chakrabarti, Swapan Kumar Chakrabarti, and Indranath Chakrabarti. Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.

Outstanding Bachelor of Applied Science students at UBC Vancouver majoring in Electrical Engineering may be nominated for these scholarships. Scholarships of varying amounts are endowed through an estate gift from Harold Vincent Casson (1920-1989, B.A.Sc. 1942), who served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and later worked in Montreal as an engineering consultant. No separate application is required; the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering makes recommendations.

For a UBC Electrical Engineering student with good academic standing entering fourth year who has demonstrated leadership through active involvement in student government, professional societies, and/or campus and community activities. A $750 award endowed by members of the graduating class of 1969 in Electrical Engineering. Made on the recommendation of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. No separate application.

Outstanding UBC Electrical Engineering students, with preference given to a fourth-year student. A $450 prize endowed in memory of Matti Niit. No separate student application. The award is made on the recommendation of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Continuing undergraduates in the University of Calgary Schulich School of Engineering majoring in Electrical or Software Engineering may apply. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and academic merit and be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. One bursary of $2,000 is offered annually. Apply through the My UCalgary Portal continuing undergraduate awards process. The bursary is funded by Aktirak Corporation.

Awarded to students entering the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. The award value varies. Recipients are chosen on the basis of academic achievement. Extracurricular activities, including a focus on design, may also be considered. Students are automatically considered on admission; no separate application is required.

Convocating Canadian citizens or permanent residents with the highest academic standing in Electrical Engineering based on combined third- and fourth-year grades (minimum 3.5) may receive this medal. The university may choose not to award it. One medal is offered annually.
