Chemistry Scholarships in Canada

For full-time students in the Chemistry Program of Toronto Metropolitan University's Department of Chemistry and Biology who were enrolled in the past academic year, have a clear academic record, a minimum CGPA of 3.50, have completed all first-year credits, and demonstrate financial need. The award is valued at $1,000 and recognizes academic excellence.

Open to graduate students in Chemistry at UBC Vancouver. Fellowship funding is available, with amounts varying by cycle. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Chemistry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, with no separate application.

Second-semester students in the Chemical Engineering Technology program within the MacPhail School of Energy at SAIT may apply. International students are eligible. One award of $2,000 is offered for the Winter semester to the student with the highest academic achievement. Apply through mySAIT Student Awards and Financial Aid.

For continuing University of Calgary undergraduates entering fourth year in the Chemistry major or Chemistry Honours program who have taken at least six full-course equivalents in Chemistry and attended the university for at least two years. Open to any citizenship. One scholarship of up to $3,000 is offered annually based on academic merit. Apply through the My UCalgary Portal continuing undergraduate awards process. Donated by faculty members of the Department of Chemistry.

McMaster University students in Level III or above of an Honours Chemistry or Chemical Biology program who have notable academic standing and an interest in pursuing an academic career in basic chemical research may apply for the Dubeck Chemistry Award of $3,750. Apply through McMaster AwardSpring by the April deadline. The award was established in 2004 by Dr. Michael Dubeck (B.Sc. '51, M.Sc. '52).

Students registered in the BSCH.BPCH or BSCH.CHEM programs who have completed a minimum of 10.0 credits, including at least 3.0 credits from CHEM courses, may be considered for this award. Two scholarships of $1,000 are available. Selection follows the program and credit requirements above.

Simon Fraser University undergraduate students in their final year of an approved chemistry major or honours degree may receive this scholarship. The scholarship is worth at least $1,000. Up to two awards may be granted annually in the Fall and Spring terms. The Chair of the Department of Chemistry nominates recipients based on academic performance in upper-level chemistry and nuclear science courses. No application is required.

York University students demonstrating excellence in the fourth-year chemistry research project course SC/CHEM 4000 4.00 may receive this award. The award amount varies. One prize is granted annually. No application is required.

York University students with the highest grade average in second-level core chemistry courses may receive this book prize. The prize amount varies. All students with a 9.00 (A+) average in these courses are eligible. No application is required.

Third-semester Chemical Laboratory Technology students at SAIT who demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and a positive attitude. One $1,550 school-specific award is offered for the Fall semester. Apply through mySAIT Student Awards and Financial Aid by September 28.
