Chemical Engineering Scholarships in Canada

Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis) or Black (African Canadian, Caribbean Canadian, or Afro-Caribbean heritage) PhD candidates who meet admission requirements for a Faculty of Engineering PhD program at the University of Ottawa and are Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible. Recipients receive $25,000 per year for four years plus IBET mentorship. Apply online with a CV, statement of purpose, supervisor letter of support, and any other relevant documents. Deadlines: Fall October 31, Winter March 31, Summer July 31. Short-listed candidates or supervisors may be contacted for an interview. The IBET Momentum Fellowship is a partnership among Canadian universities aimed at increasing Indigenous and Black representation in engineering academia and STEM.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents enrolled full-time in the BASc Chemical Engineering (Environmental Engineering option) or BASc Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Engineering who demonstrate financial need may apply. One bursary of $2,500 is awarded. Submit via uoZone with the Financial Questionnaire by November 3.

Students entering their graduating year in chemical or mechanical engineering at Western University may apply. One award of $1,000 is granted annually. Obtain application forms from the Office of the Registrar and submit by the deadline.

University of Guelph honours students in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences who have completed at least 4.0 credits and demonstrated financial need may be considered. One one-time award of $1,000 is available. Submit an in-course Financial Needs Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by October 7. Eligible students receive automatic consideration once the form is submitted. This is an OSOTF ACCESS award.

Open to Loyalist College students registered in Chemical Engineering, Environmental, or Biotechnology programs who hold a minimum 75% average and demonstrate financial need. One bursary of $1,000 is awarded. Apply through the single donor-supported awards application on myLoyalist.

Undergraduate students at the University of Saskatchewan enrolled in Classical, Medieval and Renaissance Studies or Chemical Engineering may receive this bursary. One award of $500. Application is required by October 1.

For second, third, or fourth year students in the Department of Chemical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science who show financial need and academic achievement. Award amounts vary. Selection weighs both need and scholastic record. Apply through the department or faculty awards process by the posted deadline. Established in April 2004 by the family in memory of Dr. Ernest J. Wiggins, B.Sc. 1938.

U.S. or Canadian citizens accepted or enrolled full-time in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, industrial, welding, or chemical engineering, or a closely related major, who are children, stepchildren, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren of a past or present National Board member, commissioned inspector, or full-time National Board employee (with at least one year of service) may apply for the National Board Technical Scholarship. Award amounts vary. Prior recipients are ineligible. Applications open September 1 and are due February 28; recipients are notified by March 31.

Syncrude Indigenous Engineering Scholarship — one of the awards funded by Syncrude for Indigenous students, administered through Indspire's Building Brighter Futures Bursaries & Scholarships portal. Award amounts vary by sponsoring fund and are not published as a fixed figure on the Indspire listing. Apply once through Indspire's Building Brighter Futures portal. One complete application is considered for every applicable bursary and scholarship. Consideration rounds close August 1, November 1, and February 1 at 11:59 p.m. EST each academic year; a complete application carries forward across rounds until February 1.
