Biology Scholarships in Canada

Undergraduate students at Simon Fraser University in biological sciences or environmental sciences who have demonstrated interest and aptitude through strong academics (minimum CGPA 3.50) and outdoor activities may apply. One scholarship of $2,500 is available. Preference goes to a graduating honours student with an honours project relating to environmental studies. Submit an application with a letter outlining your qualifications, career plans, and environmental interest. The Senate Undergraduate Awards Adjudication Committee makes the award.

Open to second-year students enrolled in Biological Sciences at NAIT. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded based on satisfactory academic achievement. Consideration is also given to sports involvement, willingness to assist others, and all-round personal development. No separate application process is described in available sources.

Graduating students completing a B.Sc. (Four-year or Honours) or equivalent are eligible for this prize recognizing distinguished achievement in biology. One award of $2,000 is given annually. Selection weighs cumulative percentage average at one-third and the average in all biology courses (including biology credits from other departments) at two-thirds. Recipients are chosen automatically based on academic standing; no separate application is required.

Graduating honours students on the University of New Brunswick Fredericton campus who demonstrate outstanding academic performance in biological anthropology may receive this prize. The award is a book; the amount varies. One prize is granted annually on the Department of Anthropology's recommendation. No separate application is required.

For full-time Biology students in the Department of Chemistry and Biology at Toronto Metropolitan University with a clear academic record, a minimum CGPA of 3.50, all first-year credits completed, and demonstrated financial need. One award of $1,000 recognizing academic excellence. Apply via AwardSpring.

Langara College students who completed BIOL 1115 and 1215 and are enrolled in or have completed at least four second-year biology courses (from BIOL 2315, 2330, 2370, 2415, 2430, or 2470) are eligible. At least two of those courses must be completed before the deadline. Students must be registered in at least nine credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.33. Apply in spring. Amount varies.

Awarded to a student of high academic achievement and promise entering the fourth year of the Biology program. Students may only receive this scholarship once per degree.

University of Guelph students registered in the B.Eng. program majoring in Biological Engineering who have completed at least 17.25 credits are eligible. One award of $500. Selection is based on academic standing and demonstrated leadership. Apply by October 1 to the College of Engineering Awards Committee at soe.undergradawards@uoguelph.ca with a letter and resume.

Full-time students in the Biology Program of the Department of Chemistry and Biology at Toronto Metropolitan University who were enrolled in the past academic year, hold a clear academic record with a minimum 3.00 CGPA, have completed all first-year credits, and completed a body of research may qualify. The award is $1,000.

Open to McGill University graduating students whose complete record shows the highest merit in biology. At least 24 credits in biology must have been taken, and Honours biology students receive preference. One prize of $600 is awarded on the recommendation of the Department of Biology.
