About this scholarship

Young women ages 16 to 19 in the six-county greater Milwaukee metro area (Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties) may apply. Applicants should show commitment to volunteer service, leadership achievements, and dedication to empowering women through advocacy.

The Zonta Club of Milwaukee awards a local scholarship and forwards the winner's application to Zonta District 6 for possible consideration among Zonta International awards of $5,000 each.

  • Five application essays
  • Eligibility: women aged 16-19 (on 1 April each year) living in or citizens of a Zonta country
  • Letters of recommendation from listed referees (the application lists space for referees who will submit recommendations)
  • Applicant declaration/certification that the essay portions were completed without assistance (other than translation)
  • Possible interview by the sponsoring Zonta club
  • All five questions are rated in equal value; word count must be provided at the end of each answer
