About this scholarship

Graduate students at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver who show outstanding aptitude, in scholarship and extracurricular activity, for a career in television through drama, music, writing, photography, engineering or business are eligible for this fellowship. One or more fellowships totalling $4,000 are offered each year, with a minimum value of $500 per award, and the fellowship may be renewed for one or more years in appropriate circumstances. Recipients may attend any recognized graduate school that furthers their training in television. Candidates apply by letter to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies with a statement of program objectives, academic transcripts, a statement of financial circumstances, and confidential references from three or more instructors familiar with their work; applications are due by July 1 each year.

The fellowship is offered by William Rea, Jr., founder of radio station CKNW, in honour of his father, a pioneer Edmonton educator.
