About this scholarship
Students at UBC's Vancouver campus entering their second, third, or final year in chemical, civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering, or in forestry, are eligible for this scholarship. The $5,150 scholarship is open first to sons and daughters of employees of the logging or pulp operations or head office of Canadian Forest Products Ltd., and failing a suitable candidate, to children of employees in other operations of the company. If no such candidate is available, the university may grant the scholarship to a worthy and deserving Engineering or Forestry student from the student body at large, and the award may be divided between two deserving students.
Candidates in the preferred categories should submit their names and details of family service with the company on their application, along with a letter from the head office confirming eligibility.
The scholarship was endowed by William McMahan, Esq., of Vancouver.
