About this scholarship

The Vertical Flight Foundation awards merit-based scholarships of $4,000 to $6,000 to college students who demonstrate strong interest in pursuing engineering careers related to vertical flight technology (helicopters and other vertical takeoff and landing aircraft). The top-ranked applicant receives the $6,000 Bell scholarship.

Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in a relevant engineering degree program with at least one academic term remaining after awards are presented at the Society's Annual Forum in May. Undergraduate, master's, and doctoral categories are judged separately, and a student may win once at each level. High school students are not eligible. The program is open to students at any university worldwide regardless of nationality.

All application documents, including transcripts and recommendations, are due by February 1, 2027.
