National Merit Finalists who designate the University of North Texas as their first-choice school with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation are considered for a full four-year UNT Meritorious Scholarship covering tuition, mandatory fees, on-campus room and board with the seven-day basic meal plan, and textbook expenses. The published four-year in-state value is $108,000 and out-of-state value is $157,000, set annually using the UNT undergraduate average cost of attendance for meritorious recipients. Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA. Non-Texas residents receiving this competitive scholarship pay in-state tuition rates. Total aid including other scholarships cannot exceed UNT's established cost of attendance. Recipients are automatically admitted to the Honors College without a separate application.
