Nonresident undergraduate first-year students at the University of Iowa who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, or international students who graduate from a U.S. high school, are automatically considered for the National Scholars Award when they submit a complete admission application by February 2, 2026. Awards reflect academic merit (GPA and test scores through February of senior year / seventh-semester GPA) and promise at Iowa.
Awards range from $2,000 to $15,000 per year for up to four years. Renewal requires continuous full-time enrollment, a 2.75 cumulative UI GPA, and continued non-resident tuition status.
No separate scholarship application is required.
