Legal and permanent residents of Canada who have been diagnosed with a chronic inflammatory arthritic disease by a physician may apply if they are seeking an associate's, undergraduate, or graduate degree from a Canadian university, a diploma or certificate from a Canadian college, or a Canadian trade school program, and are enrolled in or awaiting acceptance for the fall/winter semester. Eligible conditions include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis, among others. Prior UCBeyond recipients may not reapply.

Applicants must meet Alberta residency requirements and may submit only one AFA application per deadline across all disciplines. Grants provide up to $18,000 for a specific project in art production, marketing, research, or training and career development. Deadlines are September 1, 2026 and March 1, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time through the GATE Front Office system.
