About this scholarship
The Herbert and Mary Lee Wiist Texas Rural High School Scholarship at the University of North Texas provides $1,000 to science or mathematics students from small Texas high schools. First consideration goes to students from Petrolia High School in Petrolia, Texas, or its successor school serving the Petrolia area. Next consideration goes to applicants from any other Texas high school with a graduating class of 100 or fewer students. Recipients must enroll full time in sciences or mathematics at UNT, meet College of Arts and Sciences academic standards, and maintain full-time enrollment unless nearing degree completion. If no qualified science or math applicant is available, funds remain unused until an appropriate candidate qualifies. Apply online through the College of Science scholarship portal.
