About this scholarship

The Cornell Tradition is an alumni-supported Cornell Commitment program recognizing undergraduates committed to paid work, community service, and academic achievement. The program supports up to 500 fellows from all Cornell colleges, representing less than four percent of undergraduates. Fellows are considered during admissions with no separate application. Tradition Fellows with demonstrated financial need receive up to $4,000 per year in fellowship funding that increases grant aid and reduces loans or work-study. Fellows access up to $3,500 over their Cornell career through the Service Support Account for service trips, alternative breaks, and approved experiential activities, plus Rhodes funding of up to $5,000 per approved international service experience. To remain active, fellows complete at least 250 combined hours of paid work and service annually, including at least 100 service hours with 15 community service hours, and maintain a 2.3 cumulative GPA.
