About this scholarship

For UBC graduate students pursuing research into woman-centered, holistic, and physiologic maternity care. Preference is given to midwives and nurses.

A $2,300 award is made available through an endowment. It is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, in consultation with the Division of Midwifery.

Applicants submit a cover page, a one-page outline of proposed research, a CV, and one letter of support by email.

Beverley O'Brien, a UBC Nursing alumna, Professor Emerita at the University of Alberta, and a Registered Midwife, established the endowment.
