About this scholarship
Domestic second- or third-year J.D. students at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC Vancouver of East and/or South-East Asian heritage who have demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to advocacy and social justice may be nominated for this award. Preference goes to students who are of Korean heritage and/or have demonstrated barriers to accessing a legal education.
Awards totalling $4,300 are available annually, and ordinarily one student receives the award each year. No separate application is required; the Peter A. Allard School of Law makes recommendations.
The endowment was established by Daniel J. Song, KC (B.A. 2003, J.D. 2006) in honour of his parents, Kwan Heon Song and Soon Hee Song, who emigrated from South Korea in 1977.
