The Shirley A. Chisholm Memorial Scholarship honors Congresswoman Shirley A. Chisholm, the first African American woman elected to Congress and a Brooklyn neighbor of donor Keith Amparado. The scholarship supports undergraduate or graduate SUNY Empire State University students with financial need residing in the Metropolitan New York region, with special consideration for single custodial parents and students pursuing law, public affairs, government, public service, or related fields aligned with Chisholm's legacy. Recipients are selected through the ESCFAST General Application. The award is approximately $1,200.
