SGS Parental Grant

PhD or SJD students at the University of Toronto within the funded cohort who take an approved parental leave of at least four months for full-time care after birth or adoption may apply, as may SGS-registered postdoc trainees on external fellowships that lack paid parental leave. The grant offsets lost funding during the leave: up to 8 months for all parents and up to 12 months for birth parents. Value is based on the applicant's current funding, aiming to replace 100% of the monthly stipend up to a maximum of $10,517.

Applicants may apply for each birth or adoption during their program or fellowship if they remain eligible.
