About this scholarship
Graduating high school seniors in the Kansas City metro area may compete for the SevenDays Make a Ripple, Change the World Scholarship by completing a lasting kindness project inspired by one of SevenDays' seven themes: Love, Discover, Others, Connect, You, Go, or Onward.
Five or more winners each receive $1,000. Essays are judged on community impact, creativity, longevity of the project, and writing quality.
Submit an essay describing how your project creates ripples in the community, encourages others toward kinder behavior, and sustains kindness after completion.
Essay questions
What else to submit
- Single 800–1,200 word essay
- Up to three photographs and/or one 30–90 second video
- Single essay of 800–1,200 words, typed and double-spaced in size 12 font
- Create a title for the project
- Include up to 3 photographs and/or 1 video (30–90 seconds)
- Specify the project duration (ongoing or specific timeframe)
- Explain why you selected this project and its personal meaning
- Incorporate supporting details, data, and direct quotes from participants with proper citations
- Open to high school seniors in the Kansas City metro area
- Essay must describe the kindness project, its community ripple, its impact on the applicant and others, and how kindness will continue after project completion.
- Essay must be typed, double-spaced, and in 12-point font.
