For students entering any academic program at Royal Roads University. Competitive entrance award or bursary from $2,000 to $10,000 for achievement in a Royal Roads theme area (business, communication and culture, education and technology, environment and sustainability, humanitarian studies, leadership, or tourism and hospitality), or for volunteerism with demonstrated financial need. Preference for applicants who have overcome exceptional personal challenges.
Apply online through MyAdmin in quarterly windows (December to February, March to May, June to August, September to November), with a one-page eligibility essay. The competition you enter must fall in the six months before your program start.

Applicants must meet Alberta residency requirements and may submit only one AFA application per deadline across all disciplines. Grants provide up to $18,000 for a specific project in art production, marketing, research, or training and career development. Deadlines are September 1, 2026 and March 1, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time through the GATE Front Office system. First-time applicants need a GATE login at least five business days before the deadline. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts, a provincial public agency, supports individual project development across visual and new media practices.
