About this scholarship

Open to a UBC Ph.D. student undertaking research in inorganic chemistry. Preference is given to a student whose work includes the application or development of spectroscopy and/or who returned to graduate studies after two or more years away from university.

The scholarship provides $1,800 from an endowment established by Dr. Ronald Cavell (M.Sc. 1960, Ph.D. 1962, Chem), a double alumnus who played an instrumental role in setting up the Canadian Light Source.

Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Department of Chemistry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
