About this scholarship
The Robert Noyce Scholarship at Catawba College supports upperclassmen pursuing a STEM major and teacher licensure through the Noyce Scholars project funded by the National Science Foundation. Eighteen scholars receive eighteen-thousand-dollar scholarships in their junior and senior years while completing rigorous coursework in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or mathematics plus teacher preparation and mentored experiences in Rowan-Salisbury Schools. Scholars engage in cohort retreats, mentoring with effective local teachers, and collegial support networks. After graduation, recipients must work four years in a high-needs school district and receive continued mentoring plus funds for STEM conference attendance and classroom supplies.
