International essay competition open to students from any country who are 18 or younger on the submission deadline. Write an individual English essay up to 1,500 words on the published economics or psychology prompt with APA or MLA citations, cover page, and abstract; submit online for a $30 USD entry fee. First prize is $100 USD cash with second and third prizes of $50 and $30. AI use and plagiarism are prohibited and essays are checked via Turnitin.

Emerging artists and writers residing on the Island of Montreal who have never received CALQ funding may apply for their first CALQ grant. Eligible disciplines include visual arts, literature, dance, theatre, music, film, digital arts, crafts, circus, and multidisciplinary practices. Grants support research, creation, exploration, and production activities. Scout intake listed awards up to $15,000; discipline-specific amounts appear after selecting criteria on the CALQ portal. Professional musicians age 18 and older who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents and Toronto residents for at least one year may apply in one of three categories: Creation (up to $10,000), Recording Demo/EP (up to $8,000), or Recording Full-Length (up to $15,000). Two awards are granted: $1,500 for the winner and $500 for the runner-up. Awards are not renewable but applicants may reapply in future years.
