About this scholarship
Adults at least 18 years old may submit an original English-language essay on assigned topics in modern Polish history for the Polonia Institute's annual competition. Essays must reflect original research and analysis, run 10 to 20 typed pages, and include a bibliography.
The first-prize award is $3,000. Additional monetary and non-monetary recognition may be offered, and selected essays may be published.

The competition encourages scholarly work on Poland's history using reliable Polish sources.

- Research paper, not a short essay: length is capped at 20 typed pages maximum (including bibliography) - the sponsor specifies a PAGE limit, not a word/character limit. At ~250 words per double-spaced
- Formatting: 12-point font, double-spaced, 1" margins, pages numbered
- Must be submitted in English
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old as of October 15, 2026 (proof of age required)
- Deadline: October 15, 2026; results announced on or about November 11, 2026
- First Prize: $3,000, with possibility of additional awards and publication consideration
- Essay must include original research and analysis using reliable Polish sources.
- Formatting requires 12-point font, double spacing, 1-inch margins, and numbered pages.
