About this scholarship

Pittsburgh Public Schools graduates from classes 2018 through 2028 who meet residency, enrollment, attendance, and GPA requirements may receive Pittsburgh Promise scholarship funding toward accredited Pennsylvania post-secondary programs.

Eligible students receive up to $5,000 per year, up to $20,000 total, as a last-dollar scholarship. A minimum of $1,000 per year is guaranteed. Students with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.49 may access the Promise Extension Program under additional rules.

Complete FAFSA and the Pennsylvania State Grant by May 1 and apply through the Promise Student Portal.

  • Continuously reside in Pittsburgh since 9th grade
  • Continuously enroll in Pittsburgh Public Schools or its charters since 9th grade
  • Minimum 2.50 unweighted GPA
  • 90% or above attendance record
  • Apply via The Promise Student Portal (access provided in fall of senior year)
  • Apply through the Promise Student Portal; access is provided in fall of senior year.
  • Funding is last-dollar, up to $5,000 per year and $20,000 total.
