Pieter VandenBos Memorial Award in Football

Open to members of the UBC Thunderbirds Football team at UBC Vancouver, in any year of study, who demonstrate an exceptional work ethic, determination and resilience. Awards totalling $2,950 are available, ranging from a minimum of $500 each up to the maximum allowable under athletic association regulations. There is no student application; the awards are made on the recommendation of the Athletics Awards Committee.

The endowment was established by Jim Pattison Lease in memory of Pieter VandenBos (1961-2023), a UBC offensive lineman on the 1982 Vanier Cup champion team who played seven CFL seasons and later joined Jim Pattison Lease as Regional Sales Director of the Pacific Region.
