About this scholarship

Open to First Nations, Inuit or Métis students enrolled in the Indigenous Teacher Education Program (NITEP) at UBC Vancouver who demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to students who originate from a community on Vancouver Island or from a rural community. Five awards of $5,000 each are available annually. There is no student application; the awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Education's Indigenous Education Department.

The awards are funded through a gift from Parkland Refining, a Canadian fuel retailing and petroleum products company based in Calgary, Alberta.
