About this scholarship
South Carolina high school seniors who meet merit criteria, including SAT 1200 or higher or ACT 25 or higher plus GPA and rank requirements, may be nominated for this state merit scholarship.
Awards provide up to $6,700 for the freshman year and up to $7,500 per year for sophomore through senior years at an eligible in-state four-year college. STEM enhancement recipients may receive up to $10,000 per year from sophomore year onward.
Only high school counselors may submit applications to the SC Commission on Higher Education. Consult your guidance counselor for nomination requirements and deadlines.
The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship recognizes academically talented seniors and encourages them to attend college in South Carolina.

- Official SAT/ACT score verification
- Official transcript
- GPA and class-rank documentation under the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy
- South Carolina resident and U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Submitted by the high school counselor only (applications from students or parents are rejected)
- Meet academic merit criteria as an entering freshman: rank in top 6% of class at end of 10th/11th/12th grade AND SAT 1200+ (math+reading) or ACT 25+ AND 3.5 cumulative GPA; OR alternate path of SAT 14
- Official SAT/ACT score verification, official transcript, and GPA/class-rank documentation per the SC Uniform Grading Policy
- No felony convictions or second/subsequent alcohol/drug misdemeanors; not in default on state/federal loans
- Consult the high school guidance counselor for nomination requirements and deadlines.
