UBC students studying the Japanese language may receive this scholarship.
Four scholarships of $1,900 each have been endowed as a memorial by Yoshihisa Okamatsu and members of his family. The awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Asian Studies.
Okamatsu established the scholarship to further cultural relations between Japan and Canada and to bring people in both countries closer together in the cause of peace and understanding.
