Children, spouses, and financial dependents of New York firefighters, volunteer firefighters, police officers, peace officers (including NYS correction officers), and EMS workers who died in the line of duty may receive the NYS Memorial Scholarship. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens, have graduated from a U.S. high school, and enroll full time in an approved undergraduate program at a New York post-secondary institution.
The award covers full tuition up to the average SUNY in-state rate, plus non-tuition costs such as room, board, books, and supplies up to SUNY allowances. Apply year-round with FAFSA, TAP, and the NYS Memorial Scholarship Web Supplement.
