Top graduating high school students in each New York State high school, based on junior-year class rank, may receive Scholarships for Academic Excellence to attend an in-state college or university. Each school nominates candidates who must be eligible to graduate from a New York high school.
Awards are $1,500 for the top scholar at each school and $500 for runners-up. Recipients must study full time at an approved undergraduate program at a New York postsecondary institution, maintain good academic standing, and be New York residents not in default on state or federal student loans.
Schools certify nominees through the state process. No separate student application beyond school nomination is described.

Unigo awards one $1,500 scholarship to a U.S. legal resident age 14 or older who is enrolled or will enroll in an accredited postsecondary program. Applicants submit a short original essay online through Unigo; no GPA or financial-need review. The winner is selected on writing quality and creativity.
