Music Education students at UBC's Vancouver campus are eligible for this scholarship. A $1,350 scholarship is awarded to the student who best combines musicianship with an ability to communicate the spirit of music to others. There is no separate application; the award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Education.
The scholarship was endowed by family and friends of the late Nancy Allan, a gifted singer known in Vancouver for oratorio, light opera, and spirited interpretations of the songs of her native Scotland, who led the Dunbar Heights Girls Ensemble from 1961 to 1978.
