About this scholarship
Minnesota residents who are one-fourth or more American Indian ancestry, or enrolled members of a federally recognized tribe, and demonstrate financial need may apply for post-secondary assistance at eligible accredited Minnesota institutions.
Undergraduates enrolled at least three-quarters time may receive up to $4,000 per year. Graduate students enrolled at least half-time may receive up to $6,000 per year.
Apply through the MISP online portal. Undergraduates must qualify for a Pell or State Grant; graduate students must demonstrate financial need and meet satisfactory academic progress requirements. Priority deadline is July 1.

- American Indian ancestry or tribal-membership documentation for new applicants
- Completed FAFSA or Minnesota Dream Act application
- College or University Section completed by an authorized institution representative
- Completed Student Section with all required information, signed and dated
- American Indian ancestry documentation (new applicants): one-quarter or more American Indian ancestry OR enrolled member/citizen of a federally-recognized American Indian tribe or Canadian First Natio
- Completed FAFSA or Minnesota Dream Act application, and applied for all available state and federal aid
- College or University Section completed by an authorized representative (typically the financial aid office), including financial aid budget data and certification
- Enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution in Minnesota; undergrad at least 3/4-time or graduate at least 1/2-time
- Meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP); not in default on a state or federal student loan; demonstrate financial need
- Minnesota Resident Student for state financial aid purposes
- Priority Deadline: July 1
- Apply for all available state and federal aid.
