About this scholarship

Massachusetts residents who lost a parent or spouse killed or missing in the line of public-service duty in Massachusetts may apply for the Public Service Grant.

At public institutions the award equals full-time annual tuition and fees. At independent colleges it equals the University of Massachusetts Amherst tuition rate. Amounts vary by institution and enrollment.

Eligible relationships include children or widowed spouses of Massachusetts police officers, firefighters, or corrections officers killed in the line of duty, and children of certain veterans or prisoners of war as defined by the program. First-time applicants submit OSFA documentation by May 1. Grants are not automatically renewable.
