Graduate students at UBC Vancouver enrolled in designated English Renaissance or Shakespeare seminars (such as ENGL 514, ENGL 515, ENGL 519, or ENGL 520) who achieve the highest academic standing are eligible for this prize.
The prize is $7,850, endowed through a bequest by Mary Ellen Henley. If two students tie for highest standing, the English Department Graduate Committee decides the recipient. The prize is granted after the academic year ends, once seminar standings are final.
The Department of English recommends recipients in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate Studies. No separate application is required.
