About this scholarship
The Martha Kirkland West Teaching Scholarship, also called the Martha West Scholarship Program, supports incoming freshmen at Catawba College who plan to pursue teaching as a career through the Goodman School of Education. West Teaching Scholars demonstrate strong SAT or ACT scores, a strong high school grade point average, leadership, community involvement, and commitment to teaching. The program awards up to twelve thousand dollars annually through the Shirley Peeler Ritchie Academy for Teaching. A completed Catawba admission application indicating intent to major or minor in an on-campus education program serves as the application. Recipients are limited to one teaching scholarship from the department.
