About this scholarship

Canadian citizens or permanent residents registered full-time in any undergraduate or graduate program on Western University's Main campus may compete for this prize of up to $1,000. One award is listed; number and value may vary with available funds.

Submit one unpublished creative writing work in English or French, in any genre or length, on a Canadian heritage theme, that has not been published or entered in another competition. Email a single PDF (cover page plus work) to undergrad.ews@uwo.ca by 8:30 a.m. on February 1, 2027. Previous first-prize winners are not eligible.

Established through the generosity of Marguerite R. Dow, Professor Emerita, who taught English and Drama in Western's Faculty of Education from 1965 to 1985.
