About this scholarship
An outstanding domestic UBC Vancouver graduate student studying oceans and fisheries or a related discipline whose research focuses on the impacts, risks, and mitigation of plastic in the ocean may be considered for this award, with preference for students who have demonstrated a commitment to outreach associated with environmental education and ocean conservation.
The award provides $2,000 annually, funded through a gift from the Margaret Ann Joan and William Francis Spring family.
Recipients are recommended by the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
