About this scholarship
The Mal Iles Innovation Award honors Ames Laboratory scientist Mal Iles by granting fifteen hundred dollar awards to Iowa State University undergraduates in physical sciences or engineering who show unusual interest in innovation and invention. Course grades and financial need are not considered; selection focuses on a one-page statement of innovation interests and two letters of reference submitted by the March 1 deadline. Completing the Mal Iles application through the financial aid scholarship system also places students in consideration for Office of Student Financial Aid and Liberal Arts and Sciences college scholarships. More than one award may be granted in a given year.
