About this scholarship
Outstanding domestic students entering UBC's Bachelor of Music program directly from secondary school, or transferring directly from other colleges or universities in Canada or abroad, may be nominated. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional commitment, performance proficiency, and academic and leadership achievements in the arts, community, athletics, or school. Recipients are academically qualified students who would not be able to attend UBC without significant financial assistance. Preference is given to students interested in the combined BMus/BEd program in future years of study.
The award is a $2,000 entrance scholarship offered annually by UBC Music alumna Maggie Burr (nee Margaret Sampson, BMus 1964). Candidates must be nominated by a member of their school or community. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Centennial Scholars Entrance Award Committee and are subject to an exceptional audition to the Bachelor of Music program; there is no separate student application beyond nomination and audition.
