National Merit Finalists who designate Macalester College as their first-choice college and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents receive a renewable merit scholarship as part of their admission offer.
Macalester awards $2,000 per year to qualifying National Merit Finalists. All non-need-based merit scholarships are determined at admission; there is no separate application or process to request an increase after enrollment.
Students must comply with National Merit Scholarship Corporation procedures and deadlines. A student who receives a corporate or NMSC-sponsored National Merit award will not also receive the Macalester-sponsored award.
