About this scholarship
The Lyman H. Atwater Prize in Politics was established by the Class of 1883 as a memorial to Reverend Lyman H. Atwater, professor of political science from 1869 to 1883. It is awarded to the senior who has written the best thesis on a subject in political science. Department faculty evaluate senior theses across subfields of politics. The prize is conferred annually and may be shared when multiple theses are judged equally outstanding.
