Laurence Decore Awards for Student Leadership

Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons who are Alberta residents, enrolled full-time (minimum 60% course load) in an undergraduate program at a publicly funded Alberta post-secondary institution, in satisfactory academic standing, and involved in student government, student societies or clubs, provincial or national student organizations, or non-profit community organizations. Visa students are not eligible.

Awards are $1,000 each. Post-secondary institutions nominate eligible students; each school has a limited number of awards and its own deadline.

Applicants need a detailed description of their involvement and accomplishments, plus a related letter of reference. Selection is based on that involvement and the reference letter.

The award honours Laurence Decore, former Edmonton mayor and Alberta Liberal Party leader. The original proposal came from the Alberta College & Technical Institute Student Executive Council (ACTISEC).
