About this scholarship
University of Guelph Philosophy majors who completed a 3000- or 4000-level philosophy course in the previous fall or winter semester are eligible for the best-essay prize.
One award of $250 is given in the winter term. Faculty nominate essays to the Chair of the Department of Philosophy by January 31; selection is based on the strongest written essay.

- Must be a declared Philosophy Major at the University of Guelph
- Must have completed a *3000 or *4000-level (upper-level) Philosophy course in the previous fall or winter semester
- Nomination only: faculty members nominate a student's existing course essay to the Chair of the Department of Philosophy (students do not self-apply)
- Selection is based on the strongest written essay already produced for the upper-level course
- Deadline: January 31; award value $250
- Faculty nomination of an existing course essay to the Chair of the Department of Philosophy is required; students do not self-apply.
