About this scholarship

Third- or fourth-year theatre majors or minors in any stream in the Department of Theatre and Film at UBC Vancouver are eligible for this award.

The award is $3,600, endowed in memory of Kensaku Asano, who studied Theatre and English Literature at UBC and worked as a theatre and television actor before his death at age 25. Recipients should show a positive attitude toward theatrical work, a gift for encouraging other students, and a healthy sense of humour.

The Department recommends recipients based on nominations from the department's student body. No separate application is required.
