The Kenan Music Scholarship is UNC's premier music award, granted to four incoming students each year who major in music. The four-year renewable scholarship covers full tuition including student fees, room, and board, plus additional support for musical enrichment such as summer programs, masterclasses, travel, and research. Applicants submit a Department of Music scholarship audition request and complete an on-campus or recorded audition each spring; all auditionees are automatically considered. Semifinalists return for a final round before recipients are announced after the March audition date. Scholars receive mentoring from music faculty and access to Carolina Performing Arts events.
