About this scholarship
Kelly Community Federal Credit Union members in good standing for at least 180 days may apply for the Merle Hinkle Memorial Scholarship for Volunteerism. One award goes to a graduating high school senior and one to a college student with at least 24 credit hours. Two $1,000 scholarships are granted annually.
Submit a 500 to 1,000 word essay on the impact of volunteerism. Applicants are judged on GPA, academic achievement, community involvement, leadership, recommendations, and the essay. The award honors Merle Hinkle, who volunteered at the credit union for more than 34 years.

- Three written letters of recommendation, including at least one from a teacher/instructor and none from family members

- Must be a Kelly Community Federal Credit Union member in good standing for a minimum of 180 calendar days prior to application

- Two $1,000 scholarships awarded annually (one HS senior, one college freshman)
- Essay should address volunteerism experience within the past four years.
- Selection considers GPA, academic achievement, community involvement, leadership, recommendations, and essay.
