Judy Brown Memorial Prize in Canadian Literature

Open to a Faculty of Arts undergraduate at UBC Vancouver completing third year who submits the best essay on Canadian literature for a course in the Department of English.

The prize is $1,900, endowed in memory of Judy Brown by family, colleagues, and friends. The award is made on the recommendation of the Department of English Language and Literatures. There is no separate student application.

Judy Brown taught at UBC from 1978, supervised dozens of Honours and Master's theses, served as Associate Editor at Canadian Literature, and co-authored writing handbooks used across Canada. She received the 3M National Teaching Fellowship and the UBC Killam Teaching Prize.
