About this scholarship

The Joseph H. Smith Jr. '45 Award is a transfer scholarship created for the most outstanding student in the engineering science program at Rensselaer's affiliated community colleges. The award is generally presented to the qualifying transfer applicant with the highest cumulative average. Like other affiliated-college transfer awards except Phi Theta Kappa, it provides a minimum of eighteen thousand dollars per academic year. Students are identified through affiliated-college nomination and Rensselaer transfer admission review. Rensselaer does not combine multiple merit scholarships in one financial aid package.
