John R. McCarthy Scholarship

Queen's University Arts and Science graduates with at least second-class standing from a three- or four-year degree program, normally domiciled in Ontario, who enroll in the Faculty of Education the fall after graduation may apply for this award.

The amount varies. Selection weighs leadership in student government and student affairs, contribution to university life, and leadership and fair play in athletics. Submit a letter of application listing two referees who will send confidential reference letters to the Dean of Education. The award is made in the fall upon registration in Education.

Established in 1987 by John R. McCarthy, B.A. '43, LL.D. '67, former Deputy Minister of University Affairs and Deputy Minister of Education for Ontario.
