Jim DeFina Memorial Scholarship in Music

Outstanding fourth-year undergraduate students in the UBC Vancouver School of Music who major in a woodwind instrument may be nominated. Preference goes to students who intend to pursue a full-time professional music career.

The award is a $2,500 scholarship made on the recommendation of the School of Music. There is no separate student application.

The scholarship is offered in memory of Jim DeFina (MMus 1983) by his family, friends, and colleagues in the West Coast Symphony Orchestra. DeFina was principal clarinettist and a long-time board member and president of the orchestra, known for his leadership and passion for music education.
